Jade

She is gone. My beautiful beautiful perfect girl is gone.

‘… All that I am,
All that I ever was,
Is in your perfect eyes,
they’re all I can see.

I don’t know when,
confused about how as well
Just know that these things
will never change for us at all

If I lie here
If i just lay here
will you lie with me
and just forget the world?’

Jade

Allan writes:

I Don’t write often, but need to do this to release pressure that’s been building allday.

I’m sitting here at 6.45pm with my first scotch of the evening (first of many). This morning I lost my princess, my picking up companion, my peg dog and ultimately my best friend. Jade. She was just 6 years old, she’s been taken way before her time.

I’ve known Jade for 3 and a half years. In that time she has introduced and taught me about working tests. The positives and the pit falls. All the stories on this website about Jade and me are spot on, the time she basically called herself up at a SEGS Novice walked up, having taken 15 backs to get her to the area only for her to tell me that there was nothing there and she was coming back like it or not. But then also there were the times when everything went to plan and we sneaked the occasional card here an there and I felt like we were on cloud nine. We were a team.

But to me Jadey excelled out in the shooting field. When we were picking up we were bloody brilliant and I have to say although it was mainly all Jadey, by christ she made me look good. For a girl that shy’s away from any cover when there was dummies involved, the gloves certainly came off when she saw the first bird fall. Nothing would stop here, unfortunately sometimes even me, when she hadn’t actually been sent!! All the guns thought the world of her, hardly anything got away and she had a nose that could find even the trickiest of birds. My god nigel (shoot captain) will be worrying about the bag when he here’s you wont be there this year.

Jade I can’t believe you’re gone, I feel numb. Although I know the scotch will soon take effect, I know I’m only delaying the inevitable tears and heart ache. I can promise you that I will be all out to suceed with the wonderful son you gave us. Fish we have a lot to life upto mate. Jade I will never forget what you’ve given us and especially what you’ve done for me. Thank you for everything.

Sleep well my princess

Dad X.

Tues 6th April 2010

Horrible news. I’m writing to keep myself busy. Jade was pretty sick Friday, vomiting and very low. She seemed to rally a lot on saturday, seeming pretty normal again. Then Monday monring she came out the kennel very sorry for herself, obviously in pain and had vomited a lot again. I starved her monday and gave her a lot of liquids, but first thing this morning she refused food for the third day and that was that. Vets. My own vet felt her stomach and in pressing high onto the top wall he could feel a hard mass or obstruction, which gave her great pain when he palpitated it. So we went straight to the vet hospital in Brighton.

The immediately put her on a drip and checked her blood for signs of Pancretitis (spelling?) and thankfully the result was negative for that. However they then did an Ultrasound and can clearly see a lump around 6cm by 3cm attached to the wall of the stomach. You know what we all think immediately when you hear the word ‘mass’ or ‘lump’. You can’t help it. But sadly the vet used it as the biggest possibility too. They wanted to go in and do explority surgery but as i reminded them, last time she was operated on for her elective C Section and spay, she had a condition where her blood couldn’t clot and we nearly lost her. So they have ordered a certain Vitamin K drug to come tomorrow, and taken bloods to run through and see their ‘clotting potential’. It will not stop them operating but if she needs this drug first it may delay the operation by a day.

I wanted so badly to bring her home as I could administer fluids here and she is weak and not eating but basically stable, but they were concerned if she slipped further down then being in the Hospital she would be in the best of hands 24/7. I suppose its true. I am just scared right now, I am never going to see my beautiful girl again. Praying firstly for the bloods to show that she can be opened up immediately, the quicker the better to find out the good or the bad of this ‘mass’ inside. Secondly that it is a beninge tumour or some such thing. Something that if it can be removed it won’t come back or affect her.

Thirdly, just praying for the strength from somewhere to get through the next 24 hours making all the right decisions and having things turn uphill for Jadey, who is the softest, sweetest girl you could ever wish to know…. and deserves a fighting chance to live a long and comfortable retirement, she is only 6 and a half years old.

I will keep you posted.

Fish: Is a fully fledged member of the ‘All Blacks’.

Oh my goodness me where do I START!?? OK lets keep some order here  😉

Fish:  Is a fully fledged member of the ‘All Blacks’.  What? How? What?…. Pull up a chair….. refil your glass…. I shall begin.

So at 8 weeks he is DNA tested in the United States by mouthswab to be black carrying chocolate. Its was a perfectly logical result, seen as his mum carries chocolate, and so he just inherited it from her rather than taking after Dad, Raven, as dominant black (or Black ONLY as they say). The fact Fish was B/C was a source of delight to us in a B/C kennel! To our view he was the best dog and carried chcoolate, by a FT Ch and one of the most handsome in the country to boot! Perfection! So fast forward 12 months and his health scores come back well, and he has his first two ladies. Both chocolate. So therefore two girls looking forward to roughly half and half black and chocolate litters. So the clever old stick strikes gold with both first time and both are in pup. To Fish. Our black carrying chocolate boy. Fish.  Hmmmmm.

Ok so both litters arrive in due course. Happy healthy arrivals. Squiggly cute ‘Poppy’ and ‘Valley’ and ‘Fish’ puppies. Lovely little chunky things. Ummm…. 16 of them…. all black. ALL black. Ok… so nature could have played one of its funny old games and feasiably all the pups be black… but the odds were like 250 to one or something… so I call the testing company. Very good they were. Retest. By blood, no room for error. And indeed no error…. or at least not by nature! Sadly by the testing company (presumably) …. Fish is Black only. Dominant black. Fish is his fathers child. Fish can play with the proper dogs by way of throwing off the ‘brown’ possibility and be taken seriously…. 😉   😉   😉  Fish… black only.  Well…. there we go…. comment of the week when all this kicked off was by Allan……

” Well doesn’t suprise me. He was training up FAR too well to carry the stupid gene…”

I shall land him one for *you* readers.   😉   😉

Fish – A card carrying member of the ‘All Blacks’!!

Shiney. Well ironically after the above paragraphs I am THRILLED to announce that Shiney has several ‘buns’ in the Oven. Fish Buns. Black Fish Buns. Actually to be honest there is nothing ‘ironic’ about this as almost the whole waiting list wanted little black Fishes anyway – but nevertheless, it did come as a suprise! Shiney is blooming. She is absolutely, at 5 weeks tomorrow, huge, and utterly thrilled to be pregnant again. She is mellow, sunshiney, twinkly and has Jadey knitting bootees at an ALARMING rate. With eleven ‘tiny shineys’ last time, watch this space for quite how many ‘Titchy tadpoles’ appear this time 😉 Bets welcome! However no-one have any money on any of them being brown please because its JUST not going to happen!!! She is due around 26th April….. Happy days! Clever clever Shiney and Fish!
